The Barn at Shady Lane

September 24, 2014

Last December, Michael and Linda Adler sold everything they owned to purchase the eight-acre property at 290 Sunbelt Drive in Oxmoor Valley near Ross Bridge. Michael, a worship pastor, and Linda, a voice teacher, have officiated and been in weddings for decades, and they always wanted to own their own events venue. And they always wanted it to be a barn.

post2-image3Early in 2014, the Adlers partnered with MG+A to develop a design and build “The Barn at Shady Lane”. This unique Event Venue was designed for many uses including weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate meetings/parties, seasonal events and concerts. Set on a picturesque 5 acre piece of property, the architecture for the facility is a “rustic barn” free span structure. While rustic in look, the facility is equipped with heating and air along with restrooms and an outdoor entertainment space. The facility can seat +/- 200 guests. Completed in Fall, 2014, the couple began hosting their first events in their 4,000-square-foot Barn at Shady Lane venue, which has included weddings, receptions, charity balls and sorority dances. The facility now has bookings through 2016.

Located about a mile from Ross Bridge and adjacent to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley, the up and coming area, coupled with the secluded nature of the land, made it a perfect fit for the Adlers and their dream. “Linda and I have done marriage events for a long time,” Adler said. “We’ve done a lot of stuff together for couples, marriage weekends and stuff like that. We’ve always had a dream to place this ministry where we live.”

The Adlers live on the hill above the newly-constructed barn, a former barn itself built in 1855. The previous land owner had moved it piece-by-piece to the property.
