Restore Sutherland Springs Project Complete

Sutherland Springs, TX – First Baptist Church Sutherland Springs, the Southern Baptist congregation whose members were targeted by a gunman last November in what became one of the worst mass shootings in US history, completed construction of a new worship center and education building in May, 2019. The North American Mission Board partnered with MG+A who headed up development, design and construction of Phase 1 of the FBC Sutherland Springs project.

Phase 1 includes a new worship center, education building and commons facility. The worship center features an exterior of stone and glass. Two towers on the corners of the building emanate glowing light. Inside, the worship center features seating for 250 people. A memorial to the 26 people who lost their lives in the attack is located in a space adjacent to the worship center and commons. The education building is designed to host classrooms for attendees age infant through adult. Outside, a lighted, paved parking lot is included.
